If you can’t wait for mid-summer to see your garden in bloom, the Quick Fire® Hydrangea is your solution. True to its name, this variety is the earliest-blooming panicle hydrangea on the market, often starting its show a full month before varieties like 'Limelight' or 'Vanilla Strawberry.' Usually grown as a "standard" (a small, single-trunk tree), it is a reliable workhorse that ensures your landscape is filled with color while other plants are still just waking up.
The flowers emerge as airy, lacecap-like clusters of pure white. As the season progresses, they quickly transition to a rich, deep rosy-pink that persists well into the autumn. Because it blooms on "new wood," this tree is incredibly dependable; even after a harsh winter or a heavy spring pruning, it will still produce a massive crop of flowers. Its stems are a deep, contrasting burgundy, and its dark green foliage often takes on a nice orange hue in the fall. For gardeners in colder climates (down to Zone 3), this is one of the toughest, most foolproof flowering trees you can plant.
