If you want a tree that looks like a permanent celebration in your yard, the Starblast Chiffon™ is the ultimate choice. This isn't your grandmother’s Rose of Sharon; it is a modern, high-performance cultivar trained into a "standard" (a single-trunk tree). It features large, shimmering white flowers that are heavily "blasted" with deep pink and red veins radiating from the center, giving each bloom a high-contrast, explosive appearance.
The "Chiffon" series is famous for its semi-double flowers, which feature a tuft of smaller petals in the center (an "anemone-like" center) that adds depth and elegance. Unlike older varieties, Starblast is a prolific bloomer that starts in mid-summer and continues straight through until frost, providing color when many other flowering trees have already finished. Because it is a sterile or "low-seed" variety, you won't have to worry about a "lawn" of baby hibiscus seedlings popping up everywhere. It is a heat-loving, drought-tolerant, and incredibly hardy tree that brings a touch of the tropics to northern climates.
